IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that now we can see films on our phones or tablets there is no need to go to the cinema. Others say that to be fully enjoyed, films need to be seen in a cinema.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern era, individuals with there phone and tables prefer to watch movies on it, whereas others opine choose to go to the big screen. In the upcoming paragraph, i have discussed both view and given my opinion at the end.

On one side, ones are choosing to watch films on their own device inside comfort zone such as house with also having option to pause scene for while or continue from left scene whenever they can manage their time to finish it. Whereas, on the theater screen you have to stick with screening time and interval break with only few selected few food option available at their food stall. This reasons are illustrating watching motion pictures on personal devices could be a better option to choose it.

On the other hand, people, who prefer a cinema screen for films, thinking to take break from haptic life with spending travelling times and watching films with their family and friends at the same time on the large screen is making them happy and creating new memories to save for their future. While, on phones and tablets, because of smaller screen compare to cinema's screen, is making difficult to watch and enjoy that memory making time. For that reason, there is still someone preferring cinema hall for spending film watching time.

In my opinion, i would like go to cinema to watch movies as soon as possible upon its released date. whereas, people need to wait for a month or two just to watch that excited scenes to be released on OTT platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Videos which are also paid to watch. Thus, those reasons make watching movies on the big screen is one of the better option for some people.

These occasional faulty links affect the flow of ideas. Overall, the organizational structure satisfies the requirements for Band 6, where cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is occasionally unclear.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday ideas related to film-watching habits. Attempts are made to use less common items, such as 'opine', 'haptic life', and 'OTT platforms', but these are occasionally misused or unnatural in context (e.g., 'haptic life' instead of frantic or hectic lifestyle). There are also noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'excited scenes' instead of exciting scenes, and 'food option available at their food stall'. Spelling and morphological issues also appear, such as 'there phone and tables' instead of their phones and tablets. Because the vocabulary is adequate to convey meaning despite errors, this falls into the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, leaning toward a solid Band 5.5 due to the frequency of lexical inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
