Student answer (Band 6.5)
Entertainment plays a vital role in our life. Movies are one type of refreshment activity that everyone loves to do. In recent year, immense growth in technology brought up entertainment industries on mobile phones and tablets. Some people say that since we can watch movies through online platforms, we do not need to go to cinema while others say that watching movies in theatre can be more enjoyable. From my perspective, watching movies at home is more comfortable, convinient and enjoyable. This essay will discuss both the sides in detail.
To begin, people who are in favours of watching movies on cellphones have following arguments. The first and foremost is cost effectiveness. Ticket prices for movies at cinema halls are expensive which could be extensively burden for big families. They can have similar experience with one time subscription of online websites such as Netflix and YouTube at home. Furthermore, It is more convenient and comfortable. Individuals do not have to allocate specific time for movies as it has been seen that cinema halls are often crowded on weekends which could ruins someone's exeprience or day.
Conversely, people who are in favour of cinema have following arguments. They say that experience at cinema is very different as they have installed sound effective speaker and comfortable seating arrangement. Additionally, it allows people to come together and have face-to-face discussion. It is more refreshing as people can make good memories by enjoying little moments with their friends.
To sum up, although watching movies at theatre is enjoyable, it can be exhausting as working hours in recent years have increased. It should not forgotten that prices of tickets during peak time is very high which could add another financial burden to someone with base pay or ordinary people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the convenience and cost-effectiveness of watching films at home versus the superior sensory and social experience of the cinema. A clear position is stated in the introduction, where the writer expresses the view that watching movies at home is more comfortable and convenient. Ideas are generally extended and supported, such as mentioning Netflix, YouTube, and the financial burden of ticket prices for big families. However, the development tends to be slightly brief in places, and some arguments, particularly regarding the cinema experience, are somewhat generalised. Despite these minor limitations, the task is successfully completed in accordance with the Band 7 descriptor requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. It follows a traditional four-paragraph structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and a brief conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin', 'Furthermore', 'Conversely', and 'To sum up' are used to sequence ideas, although referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as using 'They' without a clear antecedent in the third paragraph. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate the different facets of the prompt. Overall, the structural progression is clear, meeting the criteria for Band 6.5 to 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task. Less common lexical items and phrases are attempted, such as 'cost effectiveness', 'financial burden', and 'refresing'. However, there are noticeable word choice, spelling, and collocation errors that prevent a higher score, including 'convinient' (convenient), 'in favours of' (in favour of), 'ruins someone's exeprience' (ruin someone's experience), and 'It should not forgotten' (It should not be forgotten). Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is generally adequate to convey meaning clearly, placing this response firmly in the Band 6 territory.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures such as relative clauses and conditional-like phrasing (e.g., 'Some people say that since we can watch movies...'). There are, however, several grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including missing auxiliary verbs ('It should not forgotten'), minor agreement issues ('prices of tickets... is'), and awkward phrasing like 'could be extensively burden'. While these errors occasionally distract the reader, they rarely impede overall communication. The command of grammar aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.
