Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that people these days can watch movies on their mobile phones or tablets, so they no longer require to visit theaters, while the opponents think that if viewers want full enjoyment then going cinema is the bast option for them. Although watching films in cinema gives opportunity to some people to spend time outdoor with their loved onces, using cell phones saves money as well as traveling time which individuals can spend for other tasks.
On the one hand, some people prefer to watch movies in the theater. This is because they intend to spend quality time with their partners, friends and family members. As a result, after spending few hours together to watch their favourite films they feel relax and just enjoy the moment. For example, due to hectic work schedule, some individuals do not get family time so in this case when someone get off from their work or in the evening they make plan to watch film in cinema. Whereas, I personally believe that this can be posible on weekend when people are free at home.
On the other hand, undoubtedly, there are many platforms available where people can watch new movies by sitting at home on their phones or lablets. Not only this, masses can also have access to unlimited films to watch if they have more free time. This will save their hard earn money and valauble time which people can utilise for their other essential works. For instance, there is a newspaper article for Lucknoe city in India that the numbers of viewers decrease dramatically who watch films in theaters after the advancement in technology.
In conclusion, although going to cinema for watching movies is the best way to spend time with family or friends, in terms of saving money and time, watching movies at home is a ideal option.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—the convenience of watching movies at home on devices versus the immersive and social experience of going to the cinema—and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The position is maintained throughout the response. Ideas are generally relevant, such as the social aspect of cinema visits versus saving time and money at home. However, the development of ideas in the body paragraphs is somewhat limited, and the example provided regarding the newspaper article in Lucknow is slightly abrupt and lacks full contextual integration. Despite these minor limitations, the task is adequately fulfilled, meeting the requirements of a Band 6.5 to 7.0 standard. I have awarded a band score of 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a logical overall arrangement with a clear division into introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Transitional markers such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are correctly employed to signpost the two opposing views. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally mechanical, and some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the connection between ideas in the second body paragraph regarding weekend plans. Overall, the flow is coherent enough to guide the reader smoothly through the argument, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'hectic work schedule', 'advancement in technology', and 'undoubtedly'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'they no longer require to visit' instead of 'require visiting', 'going cinema' instead of 'going to the cinema', 'feel relax' instead of 'feel relaxed', and 'hard earn money' instead of 'hard-earned money'. Spelling errors like 'lablets' for 'tablets' and 'posible' also occur. These errors do not impede communication, placing the response firmly in the Band 6 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and concessive clauses such as 'Although watching films in cinema gives opportunity...' and 'This is because they intend to...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, prepositions, and articles, such as 'loved onces' instead of 'loved ones', 'when someone get off' instead of 'gets off', and 'is a ideal option' instead of 'an ideal option'. While these errors occur regularly, they rarely impede overall communication, reflecting the characteristics of Band 6 performance.
