Student answer (Band 6.0)
Movies should be seen in the theaters or on our electronic devices. Recently this topic has come into lime light probably after Covid 19. In this essay we will look into both these views and will give my honest opinion.
As a kid who belong from 1900's I have seen the transition from black and white to color cinema. Back in the days going out to watch a movie was the leisure time one would spend with their families or friends. The sound quality and the screen time has been improved in the past couple years. The 3D and 4D effects have enhanced the joy of watching the movie. For example, I recently watched a animation movie Demon Slayer and I could say every penny spent was worth it. The animation and the graphics were amazing.
I have noticed in the last decade the workload has increased significantly which I believe might be the reason for the shift from cinema to our phones or tablets. In addition to that, the newly introduced OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime have played a major role. Someone who can afford to buy a subscription for a year and enjoy watching it for a cheaper price would probably choose that over going out and spending twice the amount. For a example, a family of four can watch 15-20 movies in a year while spending the same amount they would have spent outside.
To sum it up, it all depend on how the individual wants to live and experience their life. Some movie enthusiasts would rather spend a significant amount every time where as a middle class person would opt for a safer option and buy multiple subscriptions for the year.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the advantages of home viewing via phones/tablets and the unique experience of the cinema—while also providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant and supported by personal experience, such as mentioning the animation movie Demon Slayer and discussing the economic benefits of OTT platforms for families. However, some arguments lack deeper extension; for instance, the point regarding increased workload is introduced but not fully connected to the choice of viewing platform. Overall, the response meets the core requirements of the task adequately, earning a solid Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct points, and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the response. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in repetitive referencing and slightly abrupt transitions between sentences and paragraphs (e.g., 'For a example' and 'To sum it up'). The referencing within the body paragraphs occasionally becomes unclear, such as the pronoun shifts in the final paragraph. Progression is present, but logical links between ideas could be managed more smoothly, aligning the response with the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and topical collocations such as 'leisure time', 'sound quality', 'subscriptions', and 'movie enthusiasts'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, form, and collocation, such as 'come into lime light' (limelight), 'belong from' (belong to or come from), and 'a animation movie'. Spelling and word-choice errors occur but do not impede communication, placing the response firmly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The candidate uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text, such as missing articles ('an animation movie'), tense inconsistencies ('has been improved' instead of 'have improved'), and preposition misuse ('from 1900's' instead of 'the 1990s'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they indicate that the control over complex structures is inconsistent, justifying a Band 5.5 score.
