Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to discuss both views regarding whether films should be watched at home on phones or tablets versus going to the cinema, and it provides a personal opinion in favour of the cinema experience. However, the task achievement is hindered by significant limitations in development and clarity. While the candidate mentions reasons for preferring the cinema, such as screen size, food options, and social aspects, the ideas are presented in a very fragmented manner. The position is discernible—the writer prefers the cinema—but the lack of structured paragraphing and underdeveloped argumentation place this response at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The overall organisation is severely impacted by a complete lack of paragraphing; the entire essay is written as a single, continuous block of text. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, relying heavily on run-on sentences and stringing clauses together with commas rather than full stops or appropriate conjunctions (e.g., 'two can saw a flim easy two or more friends can saw a flim i prefer to go to cinema hall'). There is no clear logical progression between ideas, making the text difficult to follow at times. This corresponds to the Band 4.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words like 'see', 'film', 'cinema', and 'friends'. There are numerous spelling errors and non-standard lexical choices throughout the text, such as 'fasclities' for facilities, 'chiler' for chiller, 'dangraus' for dangerous, 'relize' for release, and 'cackliner' (likely meaning balcony or recliner). These errors often strain the reader and obscure meaning, reflecting a performance characteristic of Band 4.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting almost entirely of simple sentences and run-on clauses joined by commas without appropriate subordination or punctuation. There is a persistent absence of sentence boundaries, capitalisation, and correct verb forms (e.g., 'many people is nervous', 'many dangraus and horror seen in thius flim'). Frequent structural errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader throughout, aligning with the Band 4.0 descriptors.
