Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response discusses both views regarding cinema versus mobile viewing and presents a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the essay is significantly under-length, containing only 181 words compared to the minimum requirement of 250 words. Because of this severe under-length penalty, ideas are insufficiently developed and remain brief, touching upon convenience, cost-effectiveness, screen size, and social aspects without adequate elaboration or specific real-world examples. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially, which aligns with the Band 5 descriptor for Task Achievement. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 250 words, allowing enough space to fully expand each body paragraph with detailed explanations and concrete examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a basic structural framework with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, though some paragraphs are very short. Cohesive devices are used, such as "On the one hand," "On the other hand," and "In conclusion," but some referencing and logical connectors are faulty or overly mechanical (e.g., "To elaborate it" and "Consequently, It provide opportunity to save and cost"). Progression is evident in the transition between viewpoints, but overall cohesion is hindered by repetitive phrasing and some awkward transitions. This performance fits the Band 6 descriptor, where there is a coherent overall arrangement despite mechanical or faulty cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as "cost effective," "hectic schedule," and "massive screen." However, lexical control is limited, and there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as "feeling more delightful," "watching moving on personal devices," and "save and cost" instead of "save money." Spelling and morphological errors also appear throughout the text. The vocabulary is adequate for conveying basic meaning, but the range is limited and frequently inaccurate, which corresponds closely to Band 5. Expanding your range of synonyms and mastering collocations will significantly improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ("if people visiting cinema then they can spend...") and subordinate clauses. However, grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in verb forms, tense consistency, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., "few people believe that films can be seen on smartphone... there is no requirement," "people visiting cinema then they can spend," and missing articles). While communication is generally maintained despite these errors, the high frequency of grammatical slips prevents the score from reaching Band 6. A stronger focus on basic grammatical accuracy and punctuation control is essential.
