Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response is severely under-length, containing only 163 words against the required minimum of 250 words. Because of this major omission, the task cannot be fully addressed. The writer introduces the topic and attempts to outline both views, stating an intention to support the latter, but the essay abruptly cuts off mid-sentence during the second body paragraph ("on the otherhand, the advantages going to"). Consequently, the position is not fully developed, and the conclusion is entirely missing. In accordance with the band descriptors, failing to meet the word count requirement and leaving the response incomplete severely impacts Task Achievement, resulting in a band score of 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
Despite the abrupt ending, the essay shows an initial attempt at structure. The writer uses standard introductory framing ("in recent times, there have been an argument... in this essay, i will...“) and transitions like "on one hand" to introduce the first body paragraph. However, paragraphing is disrupted by the incomplete text, and cohesive devices are limited and occasionally mechanical. Referencing and progression are hindered because the essay stops prematurely before the counter-argument and conclusion can be developed. Considering the overall logical flow of what is actually written, the coherence aligns with a band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a limited range of vocabulary with noticeable errors that occasionally hinder understanding. Examples include non-standard phrases like "the increase popularity" instead of "increased popularity" and spelling errors such as "strogly" and "foriegn". Words like "monney" and "maintance" also display spelling deficiencies. While the writer attempts some functional language ("cost effective", "privacy"), the overall lexical control is weak, fitting the descriptor for band 5.0 where vocabulary is minimally adequate for basic communication but contains noticeable errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical range is restricted primarily to simple and basic complex structures, many of which contain errors. For instance, the opening sentence has a subject-verb agreement error: "there have been an argument" instead of "there has been an argument". Other errors include capitalization issues ("i" instead of "I"), incorrect prepositions ("at the comfort of their room" instead of "in the comfort"), and awkward phrasing ("improves understand of scenes"). Due to the frequent errors and the inability to assess extended complex structures fully because of the short text, the grammar is best placed at a band 5.0 level.
