IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that now we can see films on our phones or tablets there is no need to go to the cinema. Others say that to be fully enjoyed, films need to be seen in a cinema.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

A number of individuals are preferring watching movies on phones and tablets over going to the cinema, while others still rank it at top to get entertained. I believe it is a personal choice and both sides are considerable.

In the busy routine, people finds it hard to go to the movie theaters to watch films, but the desire to get entertain and to see their favorite ones in action, the small screens called smartphones and tablets play a vital role. The inbuilt applications like, Netflix, Prime and many others, for example, provide the latest movies and web series. Moreover, this way is pocket friendly as well. One can take a look at preferable time rather than completing full watch at once in the cinema hall.

However, the big screens and advance technology in cinema gives another level of experience. One can visit cinema not only to watch movies but to have an enjoyable and memorable outing with family and friends. For instance, the public in northern India mostly likes to watch films in the theater on their special days, just to make memories and enjoy together. Additionaly, it improves our sitting time and break our habit of getting distract from unwanted notifications while watching content on small screens.

In my opinion, both of the ways are preferable as the base idea is to get entertained. The phones and tablets give someone flexibility to watch a piece of content at any suitable time while cinema demands long and special sitting, but gives an opportunity to get-together with loved ones. So, suitable choice can be made.

In conclusion, small and personal screens give choice of comfortable watching while cinema is a different and memorable experience. Overall, both the sources are best at their levels and in accordance with personal preferences.
