Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is ongoing debate that whether we should see films in phone or watch in cinema. Some people opine that nowadays we can view latest movies and shows on phone or tables as a result there is no need of cimenas , whereas some say that for best experience one should choose cinema. In personally believe that cinema provide you best atmosphere to enjoy the movie.

Nowadays there are many online platforms where you can watch new released movies wothout spending money on tickets. Platform such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Apple Tv are partnered with the producers and buy rights to publish on these platforms. Moreover, most of the movies are free to watch so you do not need to pay for it. You can watch it anywhere, anytime and with anyone.

Nevertheless, watching films has some disadvantages. Firstly, you dont get big screen as same as in the cinema which might result it worst experience. Secondly, the sound quality may not be effective and you might be distracted by surrounding noises.Lastly, you have to wait for months to watch it on such online plaforms.

On the other hand, theatres are made specially for big screen experience. To be more specific, you seat in the isolated dark room which contains large white screen infront of you and 3D sound system around you. Moreover, most of the theatres are contains noise cancelling system which ensure the viewer do not get any noise disturbance.

To put in the nutshell, I pen down saying that online paltform provide you same movie as the theatre but they cannot provide you the atmosphere same as cinemas because it is specially made for watching films.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the benefits of watching films on personal devices and the unique advantages of the cinema experience, while also presenting a clear personal opinion. The ideas are generally relevant, but some are somewhat under-developed or rely on broad generalisations, such as the claim that most online movies are free to watch. The position is maintained throughout the essay, demonstrating the solid core characteristics of a successful response while stopping short of fully extending and supporting every single argument due to slight limitations in depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introducing the topic, discussing online streaming, highlighting its disadvantages, exploring the cinema alternative, and finally concluding. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate different arguments. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, relying on basic connectors like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Nevertheless', and referencing is not always completely clear throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing a minimally sufficient range to discuss the topic. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'isolated', 'atmosphere', and 'disturbed', but this is accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and word forms, such as 'cimenas', 'tables' instead of tablets, 'wothout', 'new released', and 'plaforms'. These errors reflect an adequate rather than fully flexible lexical control, though they do not seriously impede overall communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at variety. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('in phone', 'on big screen'), incorrect prepositions ('in personally believe', 'seat in the isolated dark room'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('most of the theatres are contains'). While these errors do not completely obscure meaning, they occur regularly and reflect a limited command of grammatical accuracy and complex structures.
