Student answer (Band 6.0)
At the outset of new millennium, there has been a paradigm shift in the entertainment industry. Many individuals say that there is not need to go cinema to watch a movie as they are available on our phones or tablets while other say a movie is fully enjoyed in cinema. In my opinion, both have their own advantages but movie theaters are best place to see a film.
To commence with , the former view, the first and foremost reason is availability. To explain it, it is easier to watch a film at anytime or place when one has to see on his own devices. For instance, while travelling people have nothing to do, so, one can easily spend their time and enjoy a film. Other reason is unlimited access, one can easily pause a movie in between and resume later where left at anytime. In todays fast-paced life not everyone have time to sit for 2 to 3 hours continuously to watch a movie, therefore, they watch them in parts whenever they are free. As a result, it is convinent to watch films on phones or tablets than going to cinema.
Shifting towards latter notion, the predominant point is no disturbance. In other words, in the cinema halls, people does not have any kind of disturbance such as phones, as a results they can able to fully enjoy the movie. Moving futher, in movie halls atmosphere is created more enjoyable by using sound effects, big screens which makes movies more intresting so it is best place to enjoy a movie.
To conclude, although former view have its own benefits but I believe that watching movies at cinema is more relaxing and enjoyable as one can watch it with no distraction and theaters device makes it more entertaining.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that films can be watched conveniently on phones or tablets and that they are best enjoyed in a cinema—while clearly stating your own position that cinemas are the best place. The ideas presented are generally relevant, fulfilling the criteria of a well-rounded discussion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, the point about convenience and pausing a movie is explored well with examples like travelling, whereas the discussion surrounding sound effects and big screens in the third paragraph is somewhat brief and under-developed. To reach a higher level, you should extend and support every main idea with more detailed explanations or specific examples throughout all body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your essay has a coherent overall arrangement, and you have structured your writing into clear paragraphs with a logical progression of ideas from introduction to conclusion. You make use of various cohesive devices to guide the reader, such as 'To commence with', 'Shifting towards latter notion', and 'To conclude'. However, some of the cohesive referencing and signposting feels slightly mechanical or faulty, such as 'Moving futher, in movie halls atmosphere is created more enjoyable...', where the transition between sentences lacks smooth integration. To achieve a higher band, you need to ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and naturally, and that referencing between ideas is handled seamlessly without disrupting the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common lexical items such as 'paradigm shift', 'fast-paced life', and 'unlimited access'. However, there are some noticeable word choice, collocation, and spelling errors that prevent a higher score, such as writing 'new millennium' instead of 'the new millennium', 'not need to go cinema', and spelling errors like 'convinent' and 'intresting'. While these errors do not impede communication, they show a lack of precision. To improve in lexical resource, you should focus on accurate word formation, correct spelling, and more precise collocations when attempting more sophisticated vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to vary your sentence structures with clauses introduced by 'as', 'although', and 'where'. Nevertheless, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the essay. Examples of errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('people does not have'), missing articles ('go cinema'), and awkward phrasing ('theaters device makes it more entertaining'). These errors occur frequently enough to characterize this level, though they rarely impede overall communication. To move up to the next band, you should aim for a higher proportion of error-free sentences and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules such as articles, plurals, and subject-verb agreement.
