Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people believe that nowadays we are watching movies on the mobile phones or tablets rather than going to the cinema, while others argue that we need to go the theaters in order to enjoy the film. Although going to cinema gives us unique experince, I believe that seeing films on electronic gadgets at home offers conveniece. In this essay, I will support my opinion with concrete examples.
Watching movies with friends and family members in the theaters gives us a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. This is mainly because movies in the cinema is the perfect place to watch HD films, along witha good sound system and a comfortable seating. For instance, many people in Canada prefer to watch movies in the cinema with family members, especially on weekends. As a result, seeing films in a cinema gives us memorable experience.
On the other hand, watching movies on the cellphone provides greater flexibility and convenience. This is because people can watch their favourite movies on the tablet anytime and anywhere. For example, many families across the globe watch both old and new films at home on streaming platform such as Amazon Prime, Nextflix, YouTube, and many others. Therefore, watching films at home allows people to enjoy a plethora of movies at resonable price.
In conclusion, watching movies in the theaters offers unforgetable expereince with our close ones. However, I firmly believe that enjoying film at house not only provides comfort but also allows us to enjoy various films such as comedy, action, thriller, and so on, at home.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on cinema versus home viewing and clearly stating your own position. Ideas are relevant, presenting the sensory and social benefits of theatres against the flexibility and convenience of gadgets. However, some ideas show a tendency to be slightly under-developed or repetitive; for instance, the points about convenience could be extended further with deeper analysis rather than simply listing streaming platforms. Your position is maintained clearly throughout the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, effectively satisfying the requirements for this band level by fully covering the prompt while leaving room for deeper conceptual extension in future writing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
Your writing demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout the essay. The essay is appropriately divided into four distinct paragraphs, each with a clear focus, moving smoothly from the introduction to the body and concluding thoughts. You use cohesive devices flexibly to link your ideas, such as 'Although', 'This is mainly because', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, and referencing words like 'This' and 'These' successfully guide the reader through your arguments. While cohesion is generally well-managed, slightly more varied transitional phrases would lift the text toward even smoother structural flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'fulfillment', 'flexibility', and 'plethora of movies'. However, there are some minor spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'experince' instead of 'experience', 'along witha' with a spacing error, 'resonable' instead of 'reasonable', 'Nextflix' instead of 'Netflix', and 'expereince' repeated in the conclusion. These lexical slips and minor inaccuracies do not impede communication, but eliminating them and showing a tighter control over uncommon lexical collocation will help you achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as concessive clauses ('Although going to cinema gives us...') and relative clauses successfully. There are some minor errors in grammar and punctuation, such as article omissions ('going to cinema' instead of 'going to the cinema', 'enjoying film' instead of 'enjoying films') and subject-verb agreement slips like 'movies in the cinema is' instead of 'are'. However, these errors rarely impede communication and the majority of your sentences remain clear and comprehensible. Good control of basic punctuation is evident, though more error-free complex sentences are needed to progress further.
