Student answer (Band 6.0)
Few individuals argue that people should watch movies in their devices instead of going to cinema. whereas others oppose this view and believe that movies can only be enjoyed in a cinema. This essay will discuss both the views and why i believe watching films in a cinema is a better option than other.
To begin with, Cinema provides high definition video with best audio quality to make it a real life experience, Also theatre makes people feel like they are a part of the story. Additionally, it provides dedicated environment because cinema's doesn't play advertisements in between the movies, which help people to concentrate on the story rather than wasting their time on ads. Moreover, it is also a suitable way to disconnet from a regular Schedule to some quality time without any distraction to refresh.
On the other hand, streaming online is a cheaper option to enjoy a movie. People can buy a monthly subscription of various websites such as Netflix and Amazon prime in the price of a one cinema ticket, which enables them to enjoy multiple movies for the entire month in less money. Apart from this, watching films online provides flexible timing. People can choose their own preferred time and location to watch a film without any restriction, they can also stop and play same picture as many time as they want.
To conclude, In my opinion, going to cinema could be expensive but it provides dedicated environment to watch a movie without any distraction. It also helps to spend quality time and enjoying movie at the best way possible.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—watching films on personal devices versus going to the cinema—and presents a clear personal position throughout. The main ideas are relevant and generally well-presented, though some points, such as the discussion on advertisements and atmosphere, remain slightly under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, the mention that 'cinema makes people feel like they are a part of the story' is introduced but not thoroughly explained with deeper reasoning or examples. To reach the next level, the writer needs to fully develop all parts of the argument with more elaborated supporting points and deeper analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression of ideas from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with distinct paragraphs dedicated to each viewpoint. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude', though some referencing and linking mechanisms feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Also' and 'Additionally'. To achieve a higher band, the writer should employ a more varied and flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing between sentences is smoother and less predictable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing sufficient resources to discuss the topic of cinemas versus streaming devices. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'high definition video', 'dedicated environment', and 'monthly subscription', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and phrasing, such as writing 'watch movies in their devices' instead of 'on their devices', and 'in the price of a one cinema ticket'. Spelling and word formation are generally acceptable and do not impede communication. To move up, the writer must expand their lexical range and demonstrate more precise control over word choices and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like 'People can buy a monthly subscription... which enables them to...'. However, there are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the text, including capitalization errors ('whereas', 'i'), punctuation flaws like comma splices ('...without any restriction, they can also stop...'), and missing articles or incorrect prepositions (e.g., 'in the best way possible'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur regularly. To reach a higher standard, the writer needs to produce more frequent error-free sentences and exercise tighter control over complex grammatical patterns and punctuation.
