Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that cell phones or tablets are the convienient devices to watch films nowadays, but others are in favour of enjoying movies in cinema theatres. This essay will discuss both views before presenting my own views.
On the one hand, watching films on our mobile phones contain various features of portability, start and pause options, sound and display control buttons. Also, we just need an internet connection to access the movie and enjoy in our leisure time without the burden of missing any part and also movies can be downloaded for future use. Moreover, it is flexible to have fun on our own tab.
On the other hand, theatre movies are expensive and have specific timing. Transportation and ticket costs are required to watch movies in cinemas. Also, there are selective movies, not many options. No doubt, films in theatres are the latest one and the big screen in the theatre hall attracts the audience. Some films have 3D effects as well, which gives us a real feeling that objects and person are close to us. But it is hard to go to cinema halls on daily basis to see films.
In my opinion, tablets or touch pad phones are the best entertainment sources for us in today's modern era. Cinemas are not behind, but not affordable on regular basis. Theatres only work for us if movie is according to our choice.
In conclusion, watching movies entertains both ways, but mobiles phones work according to us whereas we have to manage our schedule for theatre movies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state a clear preference for watching films on personal devices, so the response is relevant to the task. The points about portability, pausing, downloads, cinema costs, large screens and 3D effects provide a useful basis for comparison. However, several ideas are listed rather than explained: for example, the convenience of pausing or downloading is not linked to a specific viewing situation, and the cinema experience is mainly supported by screen size and 3D. Your position that cinemas are not affordable regularly is clear, but the final claim that theatres work only when a film suits your choice could be explained further. Develop fewer points with examples and a more balanced explanation of why some viewers prefer each option.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” make the direction easy to follow, and the ideas generally progress from convenience to cinema’s distinctive features and limitations. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some stronger control through paragraphing. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Also” and “Moreover,” and several points within paragraphs feel like lists rather than a connected explanation. The relationship between the cinema’s attractions and its drawbacks could be made clearer. Use more varied links and refer back to ideas explicitly to create smoother progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the comparison, including “portability,” “internet connection,” “3D effects,” “audience,” and “entertainment sources.” These choices show some range beyond basic words, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, there are noticeable spelling, word-choice and collocation problems that limit precision: “convienient” is misspelled, “theatre movies” is unnatural, and “real feeling” is vague in the context of 3D. Phrases such as “have fun on our own tab” and “touch pad phones” are also unclear or imprecise. Aim for natural combinations such as “watch films on a tablet” and “an immersive experience,” and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would make the comparison sound more fluent and convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and longer sentences, including a contrastive opening and clauses with “which” and “whereas.” The main ideas remain understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction occur often enough to affect accuracy. For example, “watching films on our mobile phones contain” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the latest one” does not agree with plural “films.” The sentence beginning “Also, we just need an internet connection” becomes overloaded, and “on daily basis” is missing an article. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and divide long strings of points into shorter sentences. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
