Student answer (Band 6.0)

The rapid advancement in technology has made almost everything conveniently available for the public on a small electronic devices i.e. smarphones and other digital tools. Digital natives say that, rather than going to cinema it is extremely easy to watch movies at home on mobiles or tablets. However, some individuals still find it entertaining to experience the real joy in cinema. My opinion along with both views is discussed in following paragraphs.

Nowadays in this developing world, people barely find time to go to theatre. The reason behind this is that, due to family and employment commitments, they hardly even think of watching movies or short video at home. Millenials, for instance take priority of their work and family first to fulfill their everyday needs. Instead, they enjoy their leisure time simply by watching movies at home by refusing going to theatres. Furthermore, tech-savvy generation, which in these days called as Genzs, have lack of interest in experiencing the wholesome of movie experience.Currently, individuals lack patience skill which exacerbet concentration ability to watch a whole three hour film. Rather, they watch small shorts, podcasts, webseries in their free time. Hence, if they find an eye catching movie they choose to watch it on their own comfort and pace.

On the other hand, few communities admire visiting cinema to fully experience the mood of a particular movie. They think that it helps to relax their mind which infact mitigate stress level by spending their spare time in outdoors entertainment spots. For instance, cmmunal atmosphere creates a unique sense of belonging. In addition, cinemas provides an unparalleled, immersive experience of a large format screen with high sound system which reflects realistic emotion and feelling better than home viewing.

In conclusion, although for some individuals portable devices are the convenient way to see films, experiencing movies in theatre is far more compelling. As it fosters a amazing feeling of attachment with the community emotions. In my opinion, a balance of both is neccessary by prioritising responsibility as well as mental relaxation by emotional regulation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and gives a personal position: it explains the convenience of watching at home and the immersive, communal appeal of cinemas, then concludes that cinema is more compelling while recommending a balance. These points are relevant, and the examples about work and family commitments and the large screen help support them. However, the two sides are not developed equally clearly. The discussion of home viewing shifts into short videos and attention spans, which only partly explains why phones or tablets can replace cinema, while the cinema paragraph gives stronger reasons but little specific illustration. The final idea of balancing responsibility and relaxation is also not fully reconciled with the preference for cinema. Develop each view with a clearer explanation and a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the other hand,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” make the direction easy to follow, and the main ideas generally progress within their paragraphs. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, the move from people’s commitments to their preference for watching at home is not fully explained, and the sentence beginning “Rather, they watch small shorts” introduces a related but distinct point without a clear link to the cinema comparison. The conclusion’s “As it fosters…” fragment also weakens the final progression. Make links between claims explicit and ensure each paragraph develops one central comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

There is an adequate range for discussing the topic, including phrases such as “family and employment commitments,” “immersive experience,” and “sense of belonging.” The writer also attempts less common expressions, which shows ambition. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear. Examples include “the wholesome of movie experience,” “mitigate stress level,” “lack patience skill,” and “communal atmosphere creates a unique sense of belonging.” Several spellings are also incorrect, including “smarphones,” “Millenials,” “exacerbet,” and “neccessary.” Aim for natural, precise combinations rather than elaborate phrasing, and proofread spelling. For instance, “immersive cinema experience” is clearer than “wholesome of movie experience.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response uses both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “tech-savvy generation, which…” and a conditional-style clause in “if they find an eye catching movie.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally interrupt the flow. Examples include the article and number pattern in “on a small electronic devices,” the construction “they hardly even think of watching movies or short video at home,” and the agreement error in “cinemas provides.” The final sentence beginning “As it fosters…” is a fragment, and “a balance of both is necessary by prioritising” has an unclear grammatical relationship between the ideas. Work on articles, singular/plural agreement, and complete sentence structure; then check that complex clauses connect clearly.
