Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern world, every person has freedom of choice like most people prefer to watch films on their phones or tablets but majority tends to enjoy being there in cinema. From my standpoint,i preferably chose comfort rather than digital convienience. To begin with, internet has brought a drastic change in society and has made our lives more convienient but lethargic at the same time.Owing to the daily stressful work conditions and duty hours, most of the people dont get enough time to participate in extracurricular activities including watching a film. They tend to watch their movis, dramas and tv shows at their phones. They find it more relaxing and easygoing. They have opportunities from internet that there are alot of web series and channels where one could easily browse their film or drama of interest and can enjoy easily with their phones at home without traveling to the cinema house and waiting several hours in a que to get the tickets, then finally for the film to begin. Moreover, most of the people are socially awkward, they tend to prefer watching alone rather than conjusted areas. They love and enjoy being watching alone and relaxing comletely. On the other side, majority of people including myself enjoy watching movie by visiting the cinema. There are many perks of watching movies in cinema.Firstly, one gets the break from daily hectic routine and being able to bring a positive change from daily boring routine.Secondly, there are several areas for snacks icecream and popcorns where one can enjoy.Thirdly, watching on a big screen makes it more lively and pleasent. The atmosphere hits you differently with much noise and laughters. To my conclusion,i beleive every human has its own perspective and angle of choice. But from my stand of view,i think watching movie in cinema gives you far more pleasure and quality time with friends and family members.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and make your own position clear: you explain the convenience of watching at home, then describe why you prefer the cinema. The examples about avoiding travel and queues, enjoying snacks, and watching on a large screen are relevant to the question. This meets the task well, and your personal preference is stated in both the introduction and conclusion. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that people are socially awkward is broad and is not supported with a specific reason or example. The cinema benefits could also be developed by explaining more clearly how the shared atmosphere improves the film experience. More balanced development and support would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about home viewing, a paragraph supporting cinema, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “On the other side” help signal the movement between ideas. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, particularly the repeated listing of reasons with “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly.” Some sentences contain several ideas joined together, making the relationships less clear; the long sentence about browsing films and avoiding the cinema queue is one example. Paragraphing is appropriate, but clearer sentence boundaries and more varied links between claims and explanations would improve cohesion. Check references such as “they” so that the reader can always identify who is meant.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss both viewing options, including “stressful work conditions,” “extracurricular activities,” “big screen,” and “daily hectic routine.” These choices show an attempt to use language beyond basic terms. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural collocations are noticeable, as in “convienient,” “movis,” “conjusted areas,” and “the atmosphere hits you differently.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “noise and laughters” does not clearly convey the positive shared atmosphere you intend. Repeated use of “enjoy,” “people,” and “watching” limits variety. Aim for accurate spelling and more natural combinations, such as describing a cinema as “crowded” and its atmosphere as “immersive” or “lively.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “Owing to” and “where,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms sometimes make the reader work harder. For example, “every person has freedom of choice” needs an article, while “i preferably chose” uses an unsuitable verb form and tense. The opening sentence joins several independent ideas without clear punctuation, and “They love and enjoy being watching alone” has a faulty verb pattern. Capitalisation of “I” and punctuation around sentence openings also need attention. Practise building accurate complex sentences, then check each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
