Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people think that watching movies on our smartphones or laptops is better than going to a movie theatre. Both views have their own perks such as mobile phones can make it time and cost saving, while cinemas provide a memorable experience. I believe that theatres can be more enjoyable in terms of togetherness and picture quality.
Over the past few decades mobile phone has changed many trends, especially about movies experience. The convenient and remotely use of smartphones or tablets creates an easier environment that requires less efforts and planning. For instance, many streaming platforms offer latest movies and tv shows at very low cost. Also, people like to snjoy watching films in short breaks or during doing household things such as cooking that makes these gadgets more versatile and cheaper.
However, cinemas are known for their endless experience. Most cinemas offer many updated features such as flexible seats, fantastic audio quality that enhances the overall experience. The 3D movies are a great explanation of the real life experience in theatres, and the trend of 3D movies is rising drastically nowadays. For example, a recently launched movie named Avatar gained huge popularity because of its graphics and background sounds which can be seen only in cinemas.
In my opinion, movie theatres are huge source of entertainment, and it can connect people with their families. As a result they can plan a movie outing and share same emotions which can leave a memorable remark on them.
To conclude, although mobile phones and tablets can be cost effective and offer more avaibility and flexibility, cinemas have more benefits for individuals as they can enjoy the high quality movies and can connect with their favourite persons.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state a clear preference for cinemas, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The points about convenience and lower cost for personal devices, and shared enjoyment and picture quality in theatres, are relevant. The Avatar example also supports the cinema argument. This meets the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits of watching at home are listed, while the cinema discussion gives more explanation and an example. Some claims, such as 3D films being seen “only in cinemas,” are too absolute, and the personal opinion about family connection could be explained further. To strengthen the response, compare the viewing experiences more precisely and extend each main reason with a clear explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction presents both positions, separate paragraphs discuss each view, and the final paragraph gives a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “However,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument, and paragraphing is appropriate. The organisation is therefore easy to understand. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. For example, “The 3D movies are a great explanation of the real life experience” does not clearly show how the example supports the point, and the conclusion repeats the earlier contrast rather than drawing the ideas together. Use more explicit links between each reason and its consequence, and vary transitions so they guide the argument rather than simply mark paragraph stages.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “streaming platforms,” “flexible seats,” “audio quality,” and “graphics,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “memorable experience” and “versatile.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “convenient and remotely use,” “endless experience,” and “great explanation” for a film’s demonstration of realism. Spelling errors such as “snjoy” and “avaibility” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe cinemas as offering an “immersive experience” and say that a film “demonstrates” or “creates” realism rather than calling it an explanation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “that,” and “although.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the contrast in the opening is handled clearly. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. Examples include “mobile phone has changed” (a plural or an article is needed), “less efforts,” and “movie theatres are huge source.” In “people like to snjoy watching films in short breaks or during doing household things,” the structure after “during” is not formed correctly. Review article use, singular and plural agreement, and verb patterns, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and grammatically connected.
