Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is always debatable whether watching films on phone or tablets are better or cinema would be good choice to see movies. Although watching movies in cinema give big screen experince, I personally believe that phones or tablets are good choice for watch movies.

First and foremost, as in contemporary era everyone busy in thier work schedule, phone give them chance to sit relax and watching movie in their own homes and spend quality time together. For an example, phone or tablet movies give chance to the families to sit together in theire own house result in saving money as well as fuel as people need to travel for cinema experince whether on cars or ride.Secondly, phone give wide range of options to watch movies as some are like funny and others are like action movies but in cinema everyone need to watch one movie at a time cause lost interest and some left movie in between.

However, cinema give newly launched movies experience which are later available on phones. Also by going to cinema people get chance to get together, dinner together, that help to change their mood. Also some who love watch movies on big screen , cinema is a good choices for them as phone screens are small compare to cinema screens.

In conclusion, although watching movie in cinema can help people to feel more positive, benefits of see movies on phones or tablets are undenible such as feel relax and saving money. Also individuals can watch movie anytime anywhere on thier phones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear preference for watching films on phones or tablets, especially in the introduction and conclusion. Relevant reasons include convenience, saving money and fuel, and having more choice, while the cinema paragraph recognises new releases, social outings and the appeal of a large screen. However, some points are only briefly stated or unclear: for example, the claim that people may “lost interest” in a cinema film is not explained, and the family example does not show specifically how watching on a device creates quality time. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or a concrete example, and make the comparison between the two experiences more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting personal devices, a contrasting cinema paragraph and a conclusion. Signposts such as “First and foremost,” “Secondly,” “However” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main direction. At times, though, the progression within paragraphs is less controlled. The first body paragraph moves from busy schedules to family time, savings and then film choice without clearly separating or linking these ideas. Some connections are also abrupt, particularly the shift to people leaving a cinema film. Group related points together and use clearer references and transitions to show how each example supports the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main comparison, including “big screen,” “newly launched movies,” “wide range of options” and “saving money.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “good,” “chance” and “movie,” and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, including “feel more positive,” “good choices” and “benefits of see movies.” Spelling errors such as “experince,” “thier” and “undeniable” (written as “undenible”) also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for convenience, cost and the cinema experience, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although watching movies in cinema give big screen experience…” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “watching films … are better” does not agree with its subject, while “phone give them chance” needs clearer singular/plural agreement and articles. The sentence beginning “For an example” also runs several ideas together, and punctuation is missing around some transitions. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them with conjunctions; proofread specifically for subject–verb agreement and complete sentence boundaries.
