Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays there is a going trend of people to watch movies on the Mobile devices at home and on the move that some believe cinema is now not a default choice to enjoy their favourite character on big screen. While I disagree from the persective of experience one get with watching in cinema. This essay will discuss both views in detail and conclude why cinema still superseed in comparison.

The main reason why experiencing content on big screen makes significant difference is the impact it leaves on an individual by isolating the noise in the theatre box with cinematic sound that mimics the articulation of the event intended by the director to the audience. To illustrate, in titanic the cinematography of the action scene in the water are perfectly created to make it look real which gives people realistic view of accident which phone screen cannot create.

On the other hand the argument about enjoying film on the phones has its own weight from the viewpoint of comfort, economical, relaxing and time saving from the commute to cinema. In modern times people are working long hours which makes them stressed after the workday to plan or commit to the plan of making to theatre with their loved one's for the entertainment. The cost is also major driving factor with people having big family to afford the tickets to the movie.

Looking on both sides, I believe cinema gives immersive experience while watching on mobile is more practical in most times today from the expense view. With Netflix

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views: the cinema paragraph focuses on immersion and sound, while the phone-viewing paragraph explains convenience, cost, and time. Your preference for cinema is stated in the introduction and revisited near the end. However, the position is not fully consistent: you say you disagree with the view that cinema is no longer needed, but later describe mobile viewing as more practical “in most times today,” without clearly resolving which option you ultimately favour. Some support is also under-developed, particularly the brief Titanic example and the unfinished final reference to Netflix. Explain more fully how each example supports your view and make your conclusion complete and decisive to address all parts more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting cinema, a contrasting paragraph about mobile viewing, and a concluding section. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “Looking on both sides” help signal the change in viewpoint. However, the final paragraph stops abruptly at “With Netflix,” so the conclusion does not complete the progression or clearly bring the discussion together. Some connections within sentences are also difficult to follow, especially in the opening and the sentence about the theatre’s sound. Use clearer sentence boundaries and make each paragraph’s main point explicit; then link examples directly to the claim they support. This would make the organisation feel less mechanical and the relationships between ideas clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “cinematic sound,” “immersive experience,” “commute,” and “driving factor.” These choices show an effort to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, several inaccurate or unnatural phrases make parts of the response harder to understand, such as “there is a going trend,” “enjoy their favourite character on big screen,” and “cinema still superseed in comparison.” There are also spelling errors, including “persective” and “superseed.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe a “growing trend” and say that cinema “offers a more immersive experience.” More precise wording would help your ideas come across clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which makes them stressed” and a contrast introduced by “While.” However, some sentence structures are incomplete or difficult to control. The opening sentence lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “While I disagree from the persective of experience…” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “in titanic the cinematography of the action scene in the water are perfectly created.” Use shorter, complete sentences when a longer structure becomes difficult to manage, and check that each clause has a clear subject and verb. This will improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at complexity.
