Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate about whether it is beneficial for people to watch movies on mobiles or laptops and there is no need attend the movie theatres . In contrast , other individuals argue that movies should be only watched in cinema for better experience. I will discuss both perspectives and explain why I believe that watching movies at home is beneficial.
To begin with, there are various reasons why people think that watching films at home in laptops have more benefits. Firstly, people can spend quality time and create healthy relations with their family members while watching movies at home. Nowadays, people have hectic lifestyle and having access to watch movies at home during evenings helps people to create strong relationships with their family. Small conversations during seeing movies at home can help people to get distract from their hectic work life. Secondly, people can save their expense over fifty percent. For example, by watching a movie in cinema can cost eighty dollars for three individuals. However , this money can be saved by purchasing a Netflix membership for forty dollars.
On the other hand, many people believe that movies should be only watched in cinemas. One significant reason is to experience movies on a large screens. Corporations spend huge money to install large screens and speakers. Consequently, this experience is far better than seeing movies at home and people can never feel this perspective at home.
In conclusion, although some people believe that seeing films at movie theatres are more beneficial , I am convinced that people should watch films at home with their family members which helps them to save money and it creates healthy relationships.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear opinion: you favour watching films at home because it can support family time and reduce costs. The home-viewing paragraph gives relevant reasons and a specific price comparison, while the cinema paragraph identifies the large screen and speakers as advantages. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The cinema view is explained briefly, and the claim that the experience is “far better” is not supported with a concrete example or further explanation. Some points about home viewing, such as conversations helping people “get distract” from work, are also unclear. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or example, and make the comparison between the two experiences more balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help readers track the argument. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some effective progression. However, the repeated use of explicit transitions makes parts feel mechanical, and links within ideas are sometimes unclear—for example, the connection between watching together and “create healthy relations” could be explained more smoothly. Use a wider range of referencing and linking, and ensure each paragraph develops one central point before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “movie theatres,” “hectic lifestyle,” “large screens,” “speakers,” and “Netflix membership.” These choices make the subject clear, and phrases such as “save their expense” show an attempt to express the financial argument precisely. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “healthy relations” is less suitable than “stronger family bonds,” “get distract” does not express the intended meaning correctly, and “feel this perspective” is unclear. There is also repetition of “watching movies” and “at home.” Aim for more natural collocations and vary repeated phrases—for instance, use “home viewing” or “streaming films” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “by watching a movie in cinema can cost…” and a contrastive sentence beginning “although.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include the missing infinitive marker in “there is no need attend,” the article and plural pattern in “on a large screens,” and the agreement error in “seeing films at movie theatres are.” The sentence beginning “For example, by watching…” also lacks a clear subject. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and sentence completeness, and check punctuation spacing around commas and full stops. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
