Student answer (Band 6.0)

What is the best way to watch movie is one of the notable debate nowadays. Some of supporters prefer to watch movies on their personal devices like phones or tablets rather than going into the cinemas but some people still think that if we really want to create a proper environment and for entertainment then cinema is the finest place to watch a movie. Both sides depends upon how many people are watching the movie and what time they are watching. I think cinema is the first-rate place to enjoy the movie if we have time and want a better experience.

Films are always watched for enjoyment and for relaxing after busy schedule. In this advanced era, movies are available in digital websites like Netflix and Amazon prime video which give people opportunity to watch them while staying home on their phones and tablets. This is best for those who have short time and have preferance to spend time alone. For example, studies shows that in 21st century majority of people prefer to watch movies on digital devices while living in homes. This is because of fast and busy life.

On the other hand, cinemas are still operating in our socities because of the choice of some people. Mostly families and young couples still prefer to watch movies in cinemas over homes. This will give them an opportunity to enjoy this time with families and place to eat as well. For example, one of the study shows that cinema is the most popular place for families on the weekends. So they can spend some good time together while viewing the movie.

In my opinion, cinema should always be considered to watch movies because it creates an appropiate environment to fully enjoyed the show. The level of music and quality can not be matched at home or by online websites. For example, new developed cinemas are providing you 4D experiences nowadays with enhanced audio affects which will give you a wonderful experience.

In conclusion, despite having facilities to watch movies in homes through mobile or tablets, cinema still provide you better and enhanced overall quality and space to spend time with your loved ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear opinion: you explain the convenience of watching at home, contrast this with the social and sensory benefits of cinemas, and state that cinema offers the better experience. The examples about families and enhanced audio support the discussion, and your position is consistent in the introduction, opinion paragraph, and conclusion. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that home viewing suits people with little time could be developed by explaining how on-demand viewing fits their schedules, while the cinema paragraph could distinguish its social appeal from its technical advantages. The response covers the task well overall, but fuller development and more specific support would make the argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a paragraph stating your preference, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In my opinion” help identify shifts in argument. Some connections are less precise or feel mechanical, however. The opening says that the choice depends on “how many people” and “what time,” but these factors are not clearly carried through the essay. Repeated use of “For example” also gives the support a formulaic feel, and “This” in “This will give them an opportunity” has an unclear reference. Link each example directly to the point it supports and use more varied, precise referencing to strengthen progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digital websites,” “personal devices,” “proper environment,” and “enhanced audio,” so the main ideas are communicated clearly. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “4D experiences.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “notable debate,” “short time,” “first-rate place,” and “audio affects.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “preferance,” “socities,” and “appropiate” also reduce precision. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit the naturalness and flexibility of the vocabulary. Aim to learn common collocations for discussing convenience, atmosphere, and sound quality, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and clauses introduced by “because” and “while.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “What is the best way to watch movie is” has an incorrect question structure and article use; “Both sides depends” has subject–verb disagreement; and “cinema still provide” also needs agreement. In “if we really want to create a proper environment and for entertainment,” the clause structure is incomplete, while “to fully enjoyed” uses the wrong verb form. These errors show that complex structures are not yet consistently controlled. Practise checking agreement, articles, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence for a complete and logical structure.
