Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many folks say now they can watch films on their smartphones or electronic devices and there is no need to visit cinema but on other side some peple say to enjoy it fully, movies need to be seen in a cinema. In my knowledge cinema is better option for watching films.

Firstly, some people say now a days we can see movies on our phones its more comfortable. For example, people like to enjoy food and have comfort which they can have it at home and at same time they can also watch something on phones or tablets. Secondly, the cinema tickets are costly in this era, so for each and every movies people dont want to spend to much on entertainment they have a budget to take care.

And on another side, some people like to go in cinema for the feeling of big screen and having a fun time with family and friends. For example, when we use to plan a movie night we go with all family member like 20 people all together and than have a good dinner which is too much fun. Apart from this, people have a fan who they follow or get motivation so, folks like to go to cinema for their favourite actor movie and they enjoy it a lot.

In my opinion, people should go to cinema and watch movie with their family and friends should have lots of fun and they can also book good sets for comfortable atomsphere.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and state a preference for cinema, so the response is relevant to the question. The points about comfort and cost explain why people may watch at home, while the large screen and shared outings support the cinema view. However, the position is not fully consistent: the opening says cinema is better, but the final paragraph mainly repeats that people should go with family and friends without explaining why this outweighs the advantages of home viewing. Several ideas also need fuller development—for example, the point about following a favourite actor is mentioned but not explained. The response is one word below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. Develop each reason with clearer explanation or a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph presenting reasons for home viewing, a paragraph on cinema, and a concluding opinion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Apart from this” help readers follow the discussion. This organisation is coherent, although the progression within paragraphs is sometimes loose: the example of a large family outing moves quickly from watching a film to having dinner, without clearly linking that experience to the cinema’s viewing advantages. Some linking phrases, including “on other side” and “And on another side,” are repetitive or awkward, and the conclusion does not clearly compare the two views. Use more precise transitions and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “cinema tickets,” “big screen,” “entertainment,” and “favourite actor.” However, the range is limited and several informal or inaccurate choices make the writing less precise. “Many folks” and “something” are vague for an IELTS essay, while “good sets” appears to mean comfortable seats. There are also spelling errors such as “peple,” “to much,” and “atomsphere,” alongside awkward combinations such as “take care” for managing a budget. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they are noticeable. Choose more formal, accurate expressions and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the main message is generally understandable. However, the range is limited, and errors recur in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and plurals. For example, “people dont want to spend to much” needs an apostrophe and a different form after “spend,” while “when we use to plan” should use a past-time construction appropriate to the meaning. In “people should go to cinema,” the article is missing, and “all family member” has a number-agreement error. Some sentences also run together or use unclear clause structures, as in the opening sentence. Practise building accurate complex sentences and proofread for articles, verb forms, and punctuation.
