Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years individuals preference of watching movie has been changed due to the advancement of technology which makes it easier for people watch movies at home without going cinema. Some says watching films on electronic gadgets is convenient while others thought to fully enjoy the movie cinema is must needed. In my view, watching movie on electronic devices and cinema have their own benefits but I think it depends on preference of people how they enjoy the movies.

People support to watch films on phones or tablets due to its convience. While watching movies at home on electronic devices not only saves time but also transportation cost because people no need to go to theatre, they can just download the movie with the help of internet and watch it with their loved ones at home without paying to uber driver or paying for fuel. Some people love to spend their time at home in comfortable clothes it is best way for them to fully enjoy the movie on phones or tablets without disturbance of audience or the according the volume they like.

On the other hand, people think to be fully enjoyed, movies should be seen in a cinema for the best experience. Watching movie at cinema offers large screen and high quality volume which is not possible at home which attract youngsters to enjoy the movie with audience who have the same interest. Audience cheers, large screen with high quality visuals and volume creates the vibe of enjoyement that is worth for paying the ticket cost. To be fully enjoyed movies need to seen at cinema with family and friends.

In my opinion every people have their own preference of watching movies. Some people love to watch movie at home in the comfort of home while others prefer to enjoy the movie at cinema theatre. But I personally love to watch movie at cinema theatre due to its

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views: the convenience of watching at home is supported with points about saving travel time and costs, while the cinema’s large screen, sound and shared atmosphere are also discussed. Your personal preference is stated, but the response ends abruptly at “due to its”, so the reason for choosing cinemas is not completed. This leaves your position and final explanation under-developed. Some supporting points, such as watching with family and friends, are repeated rather than extended with a specific example or explanation. To strengthen the response, complete the conclusion and develop each view with a clear, relevant example, while making your own opinion explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a final paragraph for your opinion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” help signal the change in perspective. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are joined in long sentences, and some links are unclear—for example, “which attract youngsters” does not clearly connect to the preceding description of cinema sound and screen. The conclusion also stops mid-sentence, disrupting the overall progression. Aim to separate distinct reasons into clear sentences, use pronouns with unmistakable references, and finish by summarising both your view and its main reason.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “electronic devices”, “transportation cost”, “large screen” and “high quality visuals”. This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and some expressions are repeated, particularly “watch movies” and “fully enjoy”. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “convience” and “enjoyement”, and unnatural combinations such as “volume” where “sound quality” would be more precise. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for discussing convenience and the cinema experience, and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would make your comparisons clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including the “not only … but also” construction and clauses beginning with “while” and “because”. However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “individuals preference … has been changed”, “makes it easier for people watch”, and “movies need to seen”; these show problems with possessives, verb forms and infinitives. Agreement and articles are also inconsistent in phrases such as “Some says” and “cinema is must needed”. The final sentence is incomplete, further affecting accuracy. Practise forming complete sentences with correct subject–verb agreement, articles and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb.
