Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is undeniable that entertainment plays a vital role in human life. Some individuals argued that nowadays it is possible to watch films on our phones so there is no need to visit theater. However, others believes that for more fun, people should see movie in a cinema. From my perspective, people should watch movie at home as it is a convenient and flexible.

On the one hand, watching movies on our own gadgets gives us flexibility. To elaborate, individual can manage their work with this trend. In fact not only a person but also whole family can enjoy that moment. Apart from this it will give huge flexibility. In the current time many applications available where people can easily see their favourite story, such as Netflix, Hotstar, Youtube. Furthermore, it saves precious time and cost. One can watch movie with taking break in between and completing thier other work together. For example a person who started watching series but due to the sleep he/she can not finish their story, they can continue remaing parts during travelling or later.

On the other hand, watching films in the theater gives different vibes. Many feels relaxing in the theater with luxurious seating arrangements. Moreover, sound effects hit visely with appropriate lighting. In fact, this is a time when one can escape their self from boring and hectic routine. Another benefit is that due to the advancement in the technology 3D base movies with live thriller experience people can enjoy. Movies released in the cinema erliear than anywhere else on social media which attracts viewers. To quote an instance, 85% of youngsters prefer to watch movie in cinema rather than on phones.

Hence to conclude, even though watching films in a cinema gives unique vibes, using our own tablets are more flexible and convenient. In my views, people should use their gadgets for entertainment purpose as it help to save time and cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear preference for watching films at home, especially in the introduction and conclusion. Relevant reasons include convenience, flexibility, saving time and cost, and the cinema’s sound, seating, and 3D experience. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that “85% of youngsters” prefer cinemas is unsupported, and the example about continuing a series while travelling does not clearly show why this is a stronger choice. The cinema view is also less developed than the home-view argument. To strengthen the response, explain the significance of each example and develop both sides with comparable detail, while keeping your position consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from home viewing to cinema viewing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “Hence to conclude” make the organisation explicit. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger progression. However, linking is occasionally mechanical, with repeated additions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “Apart from this.” Some references are also unclear, as in “they can continue remaing parts,” where the reader must infer what “they” and “parts” refer to. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make references more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “flexibility,” “convenient,” “sound effects,” “luxurious seating arrangements,” and “3D.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some less common expressions are attempted. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “different vibes,” “sound effects hit visely,” “3D base movies,” and “escape their self.” Spelling errors, including “thier,” “remai[ning],” and “erliear,” also reduce accuracy. The meaning is generally recoverable, but these noticeable issues limit precision. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling; for instance, describe the cinema’s “immersive atmosphere” and “powerful surround sound.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “even though” and “not only…but also,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, some errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction persist. Examples include “others believes,” “individual can manage,” “people should see movie,” and “using our own tablets are more flexible,” where the subject and verb do not agree or noun forms are incomplete. The sentence beginning “One can watch movie with taking break” also shows difficulty combining clauses and verb forms. These errors do not usually prevent understanding, but they make the writing less controlled. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and article use, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete.
