Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the modern era, technology has changed the way people watch films and series. Many individuals believe that watching films on cellphones or tablets is a good source of entertainment because of its convenience, cost-effectiveness, and flexibility, while others argue that cinemas give a better, more enjoyable experience due to their realistic, social, and better sound quality. In my opinion, although mobile phones are convenient. I believe that cinemas play a vital role in giving a real-time experience.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why people prefer watching movies on mobiles or tablets. Firstly, these devices are convenient to use at any time and anywhere. For example, a working professional or a student can watch their shows after their working or academic hours at the convenience of their own place. Secondly, these are cost-effective, and people don't need to spend much on them. To elaborate, students and people who are not earning much can watch the movies at a very minimal subscription cost, and they don't need to pay transportation costs to reach cinemas.
On the other hand, many people opine that Cinema gives a real-time experience while watching films; a real experience can only be achieved with surround sound systems. The main reason for this opinion is the big-screen, real experience with a good sound system. For example, watching the characters move on a big screen will give more lively entertainment. Moreover, people can watch movies with their friends and family and have an effective social experience. Therefore, to have a high-end experience, people prefer to watch movies in the cinema.
In conclusion, although mobile phones are accessible, convenient, and cheap to use for entertainment, I believe that cinemas give a real live experience with good sound quality.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state a consistent preference for cinemas, so the response covers the task and gives a clear position. The points about convenience, subscription costs and avoiding travel explain why people choose personal devices, while the big screen, sound system and shared viewing support the cinema argument. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully developed: for instance, “a real experience can only be achieved with surround sound systems” is broad, and the example of characters moving on a big screen does not explain in detail how this improves enjoyment. To strengthen the response, develop one or two points with a more specific example and qualify general claims, while maintaining the clear comparison already present.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear, effective structure: an introduction presents the debate and your view, two body paragraphs discuss the opposing positions, and the conclusion restates your preference. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow, and examples are placed with the relevant arguments. This is a strong, logical arrangement. To make the flow more natural and flexible, reduce reliance on formulaic transitions and connect some sentences through clearer reference or cause-and-effect links. For example, the cinema paragraph repeats “real experience” several times; varying the phrasing and showing how the sound and screen contribute to the social experience would improve cohesion further.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “cost-effective,” “subscription cost,” “surround sound systems,” and “social experience,” which allows you to discuss both convenience and cinema viewing clearly. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “lively entertainment.” However, some choices are imprecise or repetitive: “real-time experience” does not clearly express the intended idea, and “real experience” recurs without adding meaning. Phrases such as “at the convenience of their own place” and “high-end experience” are also not fully natural in this context. Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms; this would make the vocabulary more flexible and accurate while preserving your clear meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including contrast clauses (“although mobile phones are convenient”) and reason clauses (“because of its convenience”). Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and the response includes some controlled compound structures. Some grammatical and punctuation issues remain. In the introduction, “although mobile phones are convenient. I believe” incorrectly separates the dependent clause from the main clause; join these with a comma. “Cinema gives” would need an article or plural form, and “watch their shows after their working or academic hours” has an awkwardly constructed time phrase. Review article use, sentence boundaries and clause construction, while continuing to use varied sentence patterns.
