Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Muskan,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to update you about a job which you were asking in your last email.

I read an advertisment about available job position of finance manager in a tech company. They need a candidate who has five year experience as a finance maager and also have academic acheivemnets in the same sector. The job duties include monthly and yearly based audits, preparing and monitoring invoices and expertise in excel and other computer skills.I resarched about this company and found , it is a mutli-national company and has large marking scale with extensive turnovers.

I think you are a suitable candidate of this position, as you have done a master's degree in finance, and have six year experience as a finance manager in similar industary. All of your experiecne could be helpful for you to get an interview call from them. To apply for this position, you need to email a cover letter and a resume to their recuirting manager. The recuriting manger details could be get from their website.

I have attached the website link in this email for your reference.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three required points: you describe the finance-manager vacancy and its duties, explain that Muskan’s degree and six years of relevant experience make her a strong match, and give a way to apply. The details about audits, invoices and Excel make the role more concrete, while the reference to the company website supports the application instructions. The purpose and friendly relationship are clear throughout. To make the response more fully developed, clarify practical application details where possible—for example, the exact email address or what documents the friend should include—and explain briefly why the company’s scale might appeal to her. Overall, the key ideas are relevant and supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear progression: you introduce the vacancy, describe the work, explain why Muskan is suitable, and finish with application guidance. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and links such as “as” and “To apply for this position” make relationships between ideas easy to follow. The closing reference to the website also connects naturally with the instructions. Some transitions could be smoother: the company research detail appears at the end of the job-description paragraph without a clear link to the role, and the final sentence about the attached link is separated from the application advice by a large blank space. Keep related information together and use a conventional friendly closing to make the letter feel complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “finance manager,” “audits,” “invoices,” “cover letter,” and “resume,” so the reader can understand the vacancy and application process. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “multi-national company” and “extensive turnovers.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, including “advertisment,” “maager,” “large marking scale,” and “recruiting manger.” Some phrases, such as “yearly based audits” and “candidate of this position,” are not idiomatic. These issues reduce precision even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Proofread spelling and learn common job-application collocations to make your vocabulary more accurate and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response includes both straightforward statements and some more developed structures, such as “I think you are a suitable candidate …, as you have done a master's degree …” and “The job duties include …”. Meaning is generally clear, but errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction occur repeatedly. For example, “They need a candidate who has five year experience … and also have” shifts from singular to plural agreement; “a job which you were asking” uses an awkward tense pattern; and “The recuriting manger details could be get” has an incorrect passive construction. The long duties sentence also needs clearer punctuation and parallel structure. Practise accurate verb agreement and passive forms, and divide long sentences where needed.
