Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Shreya,
I hope this letter finds you well! It's been a while since we last met. I think we should make a plan to catch up soon. I am glad to inform you that, currently I saw advertisment for a "Repair Technician" in my locality.
This is a fresh hiring for a renowned company in my area. The job duties are soldering, troubleshooting, read the schematic diagram and working with tiny electronic components. Although it is seasonal hiring, a payrate is comparatively higher than mine.
Additionally, a company situated in the center of town with convenient transportation facilities. Apart from this, as your background in the electrical field, you will learn new duties in a short time. I am pretty sure that, this job will assist you in the future for your career growth.
For applying into this industry, I would recommend directly send your resume to the HR team. You will get all information about the company on website, www.xyz.com. Moreover, I am attaching one of my friend number here, who is working in the same company.
I hope this will help you effectively. Please feel free to contact me for further details. Good Luck!
Yours lovingly,
Yash Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three required points and maintains an appropriate, friendly tone. You explain the Repair Technician role with examples such as soldering and troubleshooting, give reasons it may suit Shreya’s electrical background, and provide application guidance through the HR team and company website. These details make the response relevant and useful. Some points, however, are less fully developed: the seasonal nature of the hiring and the comparatively higher pay are mentioned without clarifying the contract period or what the pay is compared with. The application instructions could also be more precise, for example by naming the documents to send or explaining how to contact HR. More specific support for these points would make the letter more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a clear overall sequence: an opening, a description of the job, reasons it could suit your friend, and application advice. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “Additionally” and “Moreover” make relationships between ideas visible. The progression is generally effective, though some connections feel mechanical or unclear. For instance, “Apart from this” introduces another reason for suitability, but the link to the previous point is not especially precise. The opening also spends several sentences on catching up before reaching the purpose of the letter. A more direct transition to the job opportunity, and clearer links between each reason and Shreya’s circumstances, would make the cohesion more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing the vacancy and its requirements, including “soldering,” “troubleshooting,” “schematic diagram,” and “electronic components.” These terms make the work sound specific, while phrases such as “career growth” and “convenient transportation facilities” help explain its appeal. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural choices, including “fresh hiring,” “payrate,” and “applying into this industry”; these reduce the naturalness of the letter, although the intended meaning remains understandable. The spelling “advertisment” is another noticeable slip. Aim for more conventional job-search collocations and check spelling, especially in key details about the vacancy and application process.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and most ideas remain understandable. You use subordinate clauses in “Although it is seasonal hiring” and “as your background in the electrical field,” showing an attempt to vary structure. Some grammatical errors remain, however. “I saw advertisment” needs a more suitable tense and article, while “a company situated in the center of town” is a sentence fragment without a main verb. In “the job duties are soldering, troubleshooting, read the schematic diagram,” the items in the list do not follow a consistent grammatical form. There are also errors in patterns such as “recommend directly send” and “I am attaching one of my friend number.” Revising these sentence structures and checking verb forms and articles would improve accuracy.
