Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the job at Tech Solution, explained why it is a good fit for your friend, and provided a logical, step-by-step guide on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a helpful and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements. To reach a higher band, ensure that you provide slightly more detail in the descriptions, such as mentioning specific technologies or the company culture, to fully flesh out the scenario.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraph breaks for each point requested. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'After that' and 'I believe' to connect your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions could be more sophisticated. For instance, the transition between the job description and the application process could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In addition to this') would improve the overall cohesion and help the letter read more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'position', 'programming', and 'applications'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'benifits' (benefits) and 'botton' (button). Additionally, some phrases are slightly repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'new' and 'software'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and ensure accurate spelling of common professional terms. Your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, but it lacks the variety and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'The Tech Solution Company currently looking' (missing auxiliary verb 'is') and 'I heard a new job' (should be 'I heard about'). There are also minor issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'visit on their website' (should be 'visit their website'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
