Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the job at the local food chain, explained why your friend's previous experience as a supervisor makes them a suitable candidate, and provided clear instructions on how to apply via the website. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements. To reach a higher band, ensure that all parts of the prompt are explored with equal depth and avoid minor repetitions, such as mentioning the application process twice in the same paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'Indeed' to connect your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical errors in sentence structure and punctuation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different points of the letter. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that transitions between sentences feel more natural rather than mechanical. The overall progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'permanent residency', 'fast-paced', and 'strait-forward'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'advirtisement' instead of 'advertisement' and 'strait-forward' instead of 'straightforward'. Additionally, there are minor word choice issues, such as 'get qualify' instead of 'qualify' and 'desire job' instead of 'desired job'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precision. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and ensure accurate spelling of common professional terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical slips throughout the text, such as 'It is been a while we haven't meet' (should be 'It has been a while since we met') and 'you will be get selected' (should be 'you will get selected'). There are also some punctuation errors, such as the space before the question mark in the first sentence. While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice constructions.
