Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.5

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly describe the job as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant, explain why it suits your friend by highlighting their detail-oriented nature and interest in hands-on work, and provide instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the context and the specific advice being offered. No parts of the task were omitted, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the outset.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0

The letter is logically organized, with a clear progression from the initial greeting to the job description, the justification for the recommendation, and finally the application instructions. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate these distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Another thing', and 'Lastly' are used to guide the reader through the text. While the transition between the job description and the application process is slightly abrupt, the overall flow remains smooth and easy to follow. The use of referencing is generally accurate, ensuring the reader can easily track the subject matter.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message with precision. Phrases like 'professional working environment', 'hands-on experience', and 'expedite the process' are well-chosen and appropriate for the context. There are minor issues with word choice, such as 'local company is renowned' (missing an article) and 'I would advice' (confusing the noun 'advice' with the verb 'advise'). However, these errors do not impede communication. The vocabulary is generally natural and fits the informal yet professional tone of the letter well.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

The letter displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are clear and error-free, though there are a few grammatical slips. For instance, 'The profession is of Clinical Laboratory Assistant' would be more natural as 'The position is that of a Clinical Laboratory Assistant'. Additionally, there are minor article omissions, such as 'local company' instead of 'the local company'. Despite these occasional inaccuracies, your control of grammar is strong, and the meaning is never obscured. Punctuation is generally accurate, supporting the overall readability of the letter.
