Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Radhika,
I hope this letter finds you in radiant health and best of spirits. I am so glad that you are planning to move in my country. I am writing this letter in a response of your job finding. I recently heard about a recruitment for manager post, that will be happening in a local company. That company's name is Ami's lifescience. This company is well-developed and emerging organisation. This position mainly required some sort of work such as management and allotment of work, scheduling of staff, keep records and regular meeting with employees and CEO to discuss about current project's productivity and future plans.
I believe, this position would suits you most. Because you have completed your masters in management. In addition, you already have five years of experience in this type of work. On top of that, this company allow their employee to work only 40 hours per week, which is your main concern. I also heard that organisation's work culture is an exceptional. You can apply for this position on their website or you can send me your resume, so I can drop that at their recruitment office. If you need any further information or help, please feel free to ask me.
I am eagerly waiting to meeting you soon.
Yours lovingly,
Vaishnavi Dana.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the job role, explained why it is a good fit for your friend based on her qualifications and preferences, and provided clear instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. To reach a higher band, ensure that you provide slightly more detail in the description of the job duties to fully develop the ideas, as some points are listed rather than explained in depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'On top of that', and 'Because' to link your ideas. However, the flow between some sentences is slightly mechanical. For example, the transition between the job description and the reasons for suitability could be smoother. Paragraphing is used correctly to separate the different requirements of the task. To improve, try to vary your cohesive devices and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'this position') is always clear to the reader.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary suitable for a semi-formal letter, such as 'radiant health', 'recruitment', and 'exceptional'. There are some minor collocation errors, such as 'move in my country' (should be 'move to my country') and 'in a response of your job finding' (should be 'in response to your job search'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise word choice. You successfully use topic-specific vocabulary related to employment, which helps convey your message effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'this position mainly required' (should be 'requires'), 'this company allow' (should be 'allows'), and 'waiting to meeting you' (should be 'waiting to meet you'). These errors are frequent but do not cause confusion. To achieve a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and verb patterns after certain phrases. Your punctuation is generally accurate, and the letter follows the standard conventions for a friendly correspondence.
