Dear Paul,

How have you been. I hope everything is going well with you. I'm writing this letter in response to your earlier request to help you search for openings that is suitable for you in your area of expertise.

Recently they have been series of advart for job openings in our local newspaper which I believe that are in line with your major in college. All that is required is a prove of 6 months experience and your Certificate. When shortlisted you will be required to undergo a health fitness test to certify your fitness for the job.

I believe strongly that with your level of experience and exposure you will be a great candidate for this position and this will also serve as a way of giving back to your home country which has been your long term dreams and aspiration.

To apply preper the necessary documents as I have list above together with your resume and forward it to the email address on the newspaper advert.

I wish you the best of luck as you apply for this position.

Yours Faithful

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You introduce the job, explain why it is suitable for your friend, and provide instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, you mention the job involves '6 months experience' and a 'health fitness test', but you do not specify the actual nature of the work (e.g., is it an engineering role, a teaching position, or administrative?). Providing more specific details about the job duties would have strengthened the response and helped you reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different points. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Recently', 'I believe strongly', and 'To apply', which help the flow of the letter. However, the transition between the job description and the application process is slightly abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is a bit mechanical. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the progression between sentences feels more natural and less like a list of requirements.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'area of expertise', 'shortlisted', and 'aspiration'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'advart' (advert), 'prove' (proof), and 'preper' (prepare). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, you should focus on accuracy in spelling and attempt to use more precise collocations. For example, instead of saying 'series of advart', you could use 'a number of job advertisements'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms will also help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'they have been series of advart' (there has been a series of advertisements) and 'openings that is suitable' (openings that are suitable). The subject-verb agreement is inconsistent in several places. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain errors that slightly distract the reader. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent throughout the letter. Proofreading for basic errors like these will significantly improve your accuracy.
