Student answer (Band 6.5)
Subject- Regarding the finding of a job in a particular company
Dear friend,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing to inform you about a job in my home country as you have completed your studies in business management, which plays a vital role in my country. You have one year experience and better knowledge about this course. You know how to deal with customers.
Moreover, it improves your communication skills and boosts your personality when you work with professional employers. In my home town, there are numerous job opportunities. I really recommended you as it is beneficial for you and development.
In addition, you can apply for the job interview and send your resume in a industry. Make sure you come in dressed casually. Also, you should have proper documents.
To be very honest, you can achieve high success in this business as you have an international certificate. I believe that this job will be helpful for your future.
With best wishes,
Your friend,
Komalpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task. You identified the job, explained why it is suitable, and provided instructions on how to apply. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, you mention the job involves 'business management' but do not provide specific details about the company or the nature of the tasks. The advice to 'come in dressed casually' is also slightly confusing in a professional context. To reach a higher band, try to provide more specific, realistic details about the job role and the application process to make the letter more convincing and helpful.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the introduction to the job details, suitability, and application steps. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'Also' to link your ideas. However, the paragraphing is a bit fragmented, and some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between ideas is more clearly articulated. Overall, the message is easy to follow, but the progression of ideas could be more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'business management', 'communication skills', and 'professional employers'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'send your resume in a industry' (should be 'to an industry' or 'to a company') and 'I really recommended you' (should be 'I really recommend you'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'better knowledge about this course' (should be 'better knowledge of this field') and 'come in dressed casually' (which is an unusual instruction for a job interview). There are also minor issues with articles and prepositions. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
