Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: it describes the job, explains why it is suitable, and provides application instructions. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of why the job is suitable is brief, and the application process lacks detail regarding the specific documents needed. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with more descriptive language and provide a more comprehensive explanation of the steps involved in the application process. The letter ends abruptly, which affects the overall sense of completion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the flow of information. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Moreover', and 'In order to', which assist in linking ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally mechanical. The transition between the opening pleasantries and the main body could be smoother. Additionally, the final sentence is incomplete ('Just keep me in'), which disrupts the coherence of the closing. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring that all sentences are fully formed will help to improve the logical flow and overall structure of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'over the moon', 'shortlisted participants', and 'communication skills'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'returning back' (redundant) and 'recieved' (spelling error). You also use 'CV and Resume' interchangeably, which is slightly repetitive. To improve, try to use more precise vocabulary and ensure correct spelling. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the variety and sophistication required for higher band scores. Focusing on collocations and avoiding redundant phrasing will strengthen this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'its been' (missing apostrophe), 'last meet' (incorrect verb tense), and 'The jobs I am talking about is' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and periods in several places, which makes some sentences difficult to parse. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and basic punctuation rules to ensure your writing is more accurate and professional.
