| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the job at the salon, explained why your friend's background in the fashion industry and their personality make them a suitable candidate, and provided instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a helpful and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands both the nature of the opportunity and the steps required to pursue it. The response is fully on-topic and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is organized logically, with a clear progression from the greeting to the job details, the recommendation, and finally the application process. Paragraphing is used to separate these distinct ideas, which helps the reader follow the flow of information. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In addition' and 'As well as', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The use of referencing is generally clear, although the connection between sentences could be smoother in some places to improve the overall flow. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'paramount duties', 'disciplined', and 'fashion industry'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'One of my know lady' (should be 'an acquaintance' or 'a woman I know') and 'important aspect to put in the CV' (should be 'important details'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. Expanding your range of collocations would help elevate your writing to a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation and capitalization, such as the lowercase 'i' used throughout the letter and the missing question mark in 'How are you doing.' Additionally, there are minor errors in sentence construction, such as 'As well as, you have my reference' and 'is there email' (should be 'their email'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Focusing on proofreading for basic punctuation and pronoun usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
