| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

| Overall | 6.5 |
Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You introduce the job at Sigma agency, explain why it is suitable, and mention the application process. However, the development of these points is somewhat thin. For instance, you mention the job involves Microsoft Excel but do not elaborate on the specific tasks. Similarly, the explanation of why it is suitable is quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should provide more descriptive detail about the work environment or the specific skills required, which would make the letter feel more personal and helpful to your friend.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to transition between ideas. While these are effective, the flow is occasionally slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the connection between sentences is smoother, rather than relying solely on list-like transitions at the start of each paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'human resources', 'native speaker', and 'assistance'. However, there are some awkward collocations and minor errors, such as 'tells you how the job duties' (should be 'explain the job duties') and 'helps you in your coming future' (a more natural phrasing would be 'in your future career'). The vocabulary is functional but lacks the precision or variety that would characterize a higher band score. Focus on using more natural collocations and idiomatic expressions appropriate for a friendly letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'I hope you are doing wonderful' (should be 'doing wonderfully') and 'I already sent you the details that how to apply' (should be 'details on how to apply'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to adverb usage and prepositional phrases. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
