Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the Data Engineer position, explained why it is suitable for your friend by referencing his experience, and provided a clear, step-by-step guide on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a helpful and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task instructions, ensuring the reader understands both the nature of the job and the specific actions required to pursue it. No parts of the task were omitted, and the response is well-structured for a semi-formal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. You use clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, the job details, the suitability, the application process, and the closing. Cohesive devices such as 'Also', 'In order to', and 'This would' are used effectively to link ideas. The progression of information is smooth and easy to follow. While some transitions are quite standard, they are used accurately and contribute to the overall readability of the letter. The structure is coherent and meets the requirements for a well-organized response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using industry-specific terms like 'data optimization', 'debugging', and 'senior developer'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'bearing company' (likely meant 'bearing manufacturer' or just the company name) and 'have to driven the leadership role' (should be 'take on a leadership role'). Additionally, 'well reputed' should be hyphenated as 'well-reputed'. Despite these minor slips, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly and effectively throughout the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'which quite near' is missing a verb ('which is quite near'), 'This position is focuses' contains an unnecessary auxiliary verb, and 'This would favours you' uses an incorrect verb form. There are also minor issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'you possesses'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for verb forms and subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
