Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the role of a project manager at a pharmaceutical company, explain why your friend's design background makes them a suitable candidate, and provide instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands both the nature of the job and the specific steps required for the application process. The response is fully compliant with the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In this job' and 'To apply for this post', which help guide the reader through the text. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect sentences more fluidly. While the paragraphing is sufficient, some transitions between ideas feel slightly mechanical. Overall, the progression of information is clear and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a coherent response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'reputation', 'shortlisted', and 'privilege'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'hefty amount as paycheck' (which sounds unnatural) and 'perfect for your match' (which should be 'perfect match for you'). Additionally, there are a few spelling errors like 'collolegue' and 'privillege'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise professional collocations would enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'How's you doing' (should be 'How are you doing'), 'master degree' (should be 'master's degree'), and 'fill up all this details' (should be 'these details'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of plural/singular forms. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences would help move your score into the higher bands.
