Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the customer service role, explain why your friend is a good fit by highlighting their communication skills and previous experience, and provide clear instructions on how to apply via the company website. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements, ensuring the reader understands both the nature of the job and the rationale behind your recommendation. No parts of the task were omitted, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the opening paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific requirement of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your points easily. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'That job is', 'This job is', and 'You can' to link sentences. While the flow is clear, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat simple and repetitive. To reach a higher band, you could incorporate a wider variety of linking words or transition phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'In addition to this', 'Consequently') to improve the sophistication of the connections between your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'vacancy', 'responsibilities', 'representative', and 'hurdles' effectively. The language is natural and appropriate for the context. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and repetitive phrasing, such as 'doing good' (should be 'doing well') and 'wish you a good luck' (should be 'wish you good luck'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the more precise or 'less common' lexical items that would characterize a higher band score. Expanding your range of collocations would enhance your performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to understand. However, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'you updated resume' (should be 'your'), 'explanation of you experience' (should be 'your'), and 'adapt this position' (should be 'adapt to this position'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as missing commas after introductory phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for possessive adjectives and prepositions would be beneficial.
