Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the job role at the bakery, explained why your friend's background in hotel management makes them a suitable candidate, and provided clear instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements, ensuring the reader understands both the nature of the vacancy and the reasoning behind your recommendation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each serving a clear purpose. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'The job involves' and 'I found this job most suited', which help guide the reader through your points. However, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words. Some transitions feel slightly abrupt, and the punctuation, particularly the comma usage in the second paragraph, occasionally disrupts the natural flow of the text. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using specific terms like 'vacancy', 'multitasking', and 'resume'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'made out of your hand' (should be 'homemade' or 'your own cooking') and 'bake artist' (which is not a standard job title). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the vocabulary from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and precise professional terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'Its my pleasure' should be 'It's', and 'when we use to study' should be 'used to study'. Additionally, there are several run-on sentences and comma splices, such as in the second paragraph where multiple clauses are joined incorrectly. While these errors rarely impede the overall meaning, they are frequent enough to limit your score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct punctuation will significantly improve your writing.
