Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Tinkal,

I hope you are doing well. I am delighted to share a news about a job related to your field near to my home.

As you mentioned earlier in a letter that you are in search of a job in my country, I found one from an advertisement. It is near to my home and it would be more convenient for you to work there.

Firstly, there is a company named Rotary Marketing Pvt. Limited, looking for an experienced accountant. I thought that you would be the best candidate to apply for. As you are very skillful at numbers and counting, they could be benefited with your skills. Well, I show that you have to work in a department where you will be asked to manage their bank accounts, tax payments and salaries of employees.

In the end, if you are interested in applying for this job, then you have to apply before 15th June and also need to complete a form which you can find out on their official website.

let me know, your thoughts to this job. Stay connected.

Yours lovingly,

Dhvani.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the job at Rotary Marketing, explained why it is suitable for your friend by referencing their accounting skills, and provided the necessary application instructions. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements. To reach a higher band, ensure that the opening and closing are fully integrated into the flow of the letter, as the current structure is slightly formulaic. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly' and 'In the end' to guide the reader. However, the transition between paragraphs could be smoother, and some of the linking phrases feel slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is clear, which helps the reader follow your train of thought. To improve, try using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'this job', 'your skills') is consistently clear throughout the text to enhance the flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'convenient', 'candidate', and 'official website' appropriately. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'share a news' (should be 'share some news') and 'they could be benefited with your skills' (should be 'they would benefit from your skills'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations. Expanding your vocabulary to include more natural, idiomatic expressions would help elevate your score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'I show that you have to work' (likely meant 'I saw that' or 'I understand that') and 'let me know, your thoughts to this job' (punctuation and preposition error). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher band score.
