Dear Gourav,
I hope you are doing good. I have been missing our college days and suddenly recieved your letter which has given me nostalgia. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 150 words, reaching only 88 words. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed. While you have begun to introduce the job opportunity, you have failed to complete the letter, missing the explanation of why the job is suitable and the instructions on how to apply. Because the response is incomplete and fails to cover the required bullet points, it cannot be assessed as a fully developed piece of writing. To improve, you must ensure you address every prompt in the instructions and meet the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is too short to demonstrate a clear structure or effective paragraphing. While the opening is coherent, the abrupt ending prevents the development of a logical flow. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the text lacks the necessary progression to guide the reader through the required information. To achieve a higher band, you need to organize your ideas into distinct paragraphs—one for each bullet point—and use linking words to connect your sentences smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for a friendly letter, such as 'nostalgia' and 'vacancy'. However, there are spelling errors like 'recieved' (received), 'filed' (field), and 'opprotunity' (opportunity). The range of vocabulary is limited due to the brevity of the response. To improve, focus on accurate spelling and try to incorporate more varied descriptive language related to professional contexts, such as 'expertise', 'qualifications', or 'application process'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The sentence structures are relatively simple, and there are grammatical errors, such as 'writing back you' (writing back to you) and 'regarding a job opportunity regarding which you mentioned' (which is repetitive and awkward). The sentence 'As I know your background and experience in this filed so I thought...' is a run-on and lacks proper punctuation. To improve, focus on using a mix of simple and complex sentences and proofread carefully to correct basic errors in prepositions and sentence construction.
