Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the job at Gupta Foundations, explained why your friend's background in IT and problem-solving makes them a suitable candidate, and provided instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the purpose of the letter immediately. To reach a higher band, ensure that your opening is more natural; for example, 'requesting an aid' is slightly awkward phrasing. Overall, the task is fully covered.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from that' and 'Thus' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical errors or slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'I am sincerely grateful to know about that you have been requesting'. While the progression of ideas is clear, the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated to improve the overall flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'vividly', 'academics', and 'reputed'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'requesting an aid' (should be 'asking for help') and 'threw a party' (which should be in the future tense, 'throw a party'). You also have minor errors like 'you are graduated in It field' instead of 'you graduated in the IT field'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and common collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'you are have good abilities' (should be 'you have good abilities') and 'applying the job' (should be 'applying for the job'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and verb tense consistency, such as 'when we are studying' (should be 'when we were studying'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing your focus on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
