Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear [Friend's Name],
I hope you are doing well. It was great to hear from you, and I am happy to help you find a suitable job in my country.
I recently heard about a job vacancy in a local pharmaceutical company in my city. They are looking for a sales assistant who can communicate with customers, explain their products, prepare orders and maintain basic sales records. The working hours are approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Monday to Saturday.
I think this job would be suitable for you because you have good communication skills and you gained useful experience while studying abroad. Moreover, you are friendly, hardworking and able to communicate with people from different backgrounds. Your knowledge of English would also be an advantage when dealing with customers.
To apply, you need to prepare your updated CV and a copy of your educational certificates. You can send these documents to the company's HR department by email. I can also help you complete the application form and contact the company if you need any assistance.
Please let me know if you are interested. I would be very happy to help you with the application.
Best wishes,
[Your Name]

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response fully addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly describe the job role and responsibilities, explain why your friend is a suitable candidate by linking their skills to the job requirements, and provide a clear, actionable process for applying. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a helpful and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and the letter flows logically from the introduction to the conclusion, meeting all requirements of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is well-organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which aids readability. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'To apply', and 'also' effectively to link ideas and sentences. The progression of information is logical, moving from the job description to the rationale for suitability and finally to the application steps. The transition between ideas is smooth, and the overall structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for the context of a job recommendation. Phrases like 'job vacancy', 'pharmaceutical company', 'maintain basic sales records', and 'educational certificates' are used accurately. The language is natural and fits the semi-formal tone required for this task. While the vocabulary is functional and precise, it could be elevated slightly with more sophisticated collocations or idiomatic expressions to reach the highest band, but it is certainly sufficient for a high-level score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The grammar is highly accurate throughout the letter. You use a variety of sentence structures, including complex sentences such as 'I think this job would be suitable for you because you have good communication skills and you gained useful experience while studying abroad.' Punctuation is used correctly, and there are no significant errors that impede communication. The control over verb tenses and modal verbs is consistent, reflecting a strong command of English grammar.
