Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Kamal,

How are u? I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to inform you that i have good news for you as you told me in last letter that you are looking for job in my nation, I have best offer for you. Job is in the Amazon company as a manager you just have to manage all the sales rest of they will tell you on the day of orientation.

I found this job suitable for you because you need financial stability and this job is having good benefits as well as higher wage rate. Additionally, you can take paid time off if you r not feeling well.

You have to apply for this job as soon as possible because its peak season of that company and only few positions are available, just fill your area code and personal information to apply. I want to see you at this position.

Yours lovingly,

Sukhan

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the job, explaining why it is suitable, and providing instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the job as a 'manager' who 'manages all the sales' is quite vague, and the application instructions ('fill your area code and personal information') lack specific detail. To reach a higher band, you should expand on these points with more descriptive language and clearer, more logical steps for the application process to ensure the reader fully understands the situation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'because' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. The transition between the greeting and the main body is abrupt, and some sentences feel like a list of facts rather than a natural conversation. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are connected more fluidly to create a more natural, cohesive narrative throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'financial stability', 'benefits', and 'orientation'. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'in my nation' (which sounds slightly unnatural; 'in my country' is better) and 'higher wage rate' (which is a bit formal/technical for a letter to a friend). To improve, try to incorporate more natural, idiomatic expressions suitable for a friendly letter and avoid overly simplistic phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the quality of the writing. Common issues include the use of informal abbreviations like 'u' and 'r', which should be avoided in an IELTS task. There are also errors with articles ('the Amazon company', 'in last letter') and punctuation. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 5.5–6.0 range. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proper article usage will help you achieve a higher score.
