Last week, one of my LinkedIn friend shared a post with that they are hiring for a cashier in their retail handloom store in Chandigarh. The major responsibilities of the job would be handling cash, receiving payments through debit or credit cards and assisting customer if they need any assistant with payments.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the cashier role, explain why it is suitable given your friend's location in Chandigarh, and provide a clear, actionable method for applying. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements. To reach a higher band, ensure that all minor details, such as the specific nature of the 'handloom store', are integrated even more naturally into the narrative flow.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the task. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the initial greeting to the job description, the rationale for suitability, and finally the application process. You use cohesive devices such as 'Last week', 'This job', and 'I will share' to link sentences effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct topics. The flow is natural, and the letter is easy to follow from start to finish.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary suitable for a semi-formal/informal letter. Phrases like 'major responsibilities', 'vicinity', and 'utilize' are used correctly. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'LinkedIn friend' (should be 'connection') and 'quit easy' (should be 'quite'). While the vocabulary is sufficient and generally precise, incorporating a few more idiomatic expressions or slightly more sophisticated collocations would help elevate the response to a higher band level. Overall, the vocabulary is effective and does not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The letter displays a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are error-free, though there are occasional slips, such as 'regarding to' (should be 'regarding' or 'in regard to') and 'assisting customer' (should be 'assisting customers'). Punctuation is generally accurate, although there is a comma splice in the final paragraph ('...quit easy, You just...'). Despite these minor errors, your control over grammar is strong, and the meaning is always clear. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would further improve your score.
