Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the job, explaining why it is suitable, and detailing the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you mention the company's focus on research and development, the description of the actual work is a bit vague. Additionally, the advice regarding the 'international educational credential' is slightly confusing in its phrasing. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are more precise and that the logical flow between the job requirements and your friend's qualifications is more clearly articulated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'To be more specific' and 'Furthermore' to transition between ideas. However, some of the linking is mechanical, and there are instances where the progression of ideas feels slightly disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition from the company description to the application process is abrupt. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which forces the reader to work harder to understand the connection between sentences. Improving the variety and naturalness of your cohesive devices would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'vacancy,' 'distinction,' and 'credentials.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'betterment of your life,' 'I have chat with him,' and 'you must gone through.' These errors occasionally impede the natural flow of the text. While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the lack of precision in word choice limits your score. Focusing on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form will help you achieve a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'my friend runs agriculture company'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'I will word with him'), and missing articles. Additionally, some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'I will be keep in contact with you.' While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and impact the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency is essential.
