Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the software development role, explained why it is a good fit for your friend, and provided instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the response ends abruptly with 'Also sh', suggesting an incomplete thought or a failure to proofread. While the task requirements are met, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are fully fleshed out and that the letter concludes in a natural, complete manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is generally coherent, and the progression of ideas is logical. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Luckily' to connect your points. However, the paragraphing is insufficient; the entire body of the letter is presented as one block of text. For a formal or semi-formal letter, it is essential to use clear paragraph breaks to separate the different points (the job description, the suitability, and the application process). Additionally, the abrupt ending disrupts the flow of the final paragraph.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'credentials', 'vacancy', and 'manpower'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'good news' (should be 'good news' without 'a'), 'desktop job' (which is not standard English), and 'get this seat' (which sounds unnatural in this context). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations will improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'software development vanacies' (spelling), 'Your would be a strong candidate' (incorrect pronoun usage), and 'One this more' (should be 'One more thing'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and proofread for minor slips in spelling and word order.
