Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: it describes the job, explains why it is suitable, and provides instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the job responsibilities is brief, and the explanation of why it is suitable relies on a single, simple reference to a previous conversation. To reach a higher band, the response could benefit from more detailed elaboration on the nature of the company or the specific skills required for the role, which would provide a more comprehensive and helpful response to the friend.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, with each paragraph focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. There is a clear progression of ideas from the opening greeting to the closing instructions. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions between sentences are occasionally abrupt, such as the jump between the job description and the suitability explanation. While the overall structure is coherent, the letter would benefit from a more varied use of linking words and better control over referencing to ensure a smoother flow between ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'Electrical Shift Engineer' and 'production units'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and minor errors, such as 'inform about a job' (should be 'inform you about'), 'form my colleague' (spelling error: 'from'), and 'do the all types of maintenance'. The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. Improving collocations and correcting basic word-choice errors would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the text. Examples include 'last were in touch' (should be 'were last in touch'), 'I hear about that job recently' (tense error: 'have heard'), 'that job role will suits to you' (subject-verb agreement and preposition error), and 'he will submit to the company' (missing object). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and ensuring prepositions are used accurately.
