Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the job, explaining its suitability, and providing application instructions. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the job involves data science research, the description of the actual tasks is vague. Similarly, the application process is mentioned briefly. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details about the daily responsibilities of the role and perhaps elaborate on why your referral would be particularly beneficial to your friend's application.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, with each paragraph focusing on one of the required points. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'Furthermore' and 'I would love to suggest' are used correctly, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'I got to know one company which need an urgent employee as their one of their coworker left that job,' where the flow is slightly disrupted by repetitive phrasing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'data science' and 'co-op'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'me and m coworker' (should be 'my coworker and I'), 'they have so much facilities' (should be 'they offer many benefits'), and 'be prepare' (should be 'be prepared'). To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('one company which need', 'one of their coworker left'), missing articles ('in same field'), and incorrect verb forms ('you already had 4 years of experience' should be 'you already have'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing your control over basic grammar, particularly verb tenses and articles, will help improve your score.
