Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the job role, explained why it is a good fit for your friend based on his previous experience, and provided instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands both the nature of the position and the specific steps required for the application process. You have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the initial greeting to the job description, the reasons for suitability, and finally the application process. Paragraphing is used to separate these distinct ideas, which helps the reader navigate the text. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic. While the letter is easy to follow, more varied linking words or phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition to this') would improve the flow between sentences and paragraphs. The referencing is generally clear, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using industry-related terms like 'invoices', 'accounting', and 'HR team'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Unload your resume' (should be 'Upload') and 'out my reference' (should be 'put'). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise collocations and ensure that your word choices are natural in a professional yet friendly context. Spelling errors like 'need to recorded' also slightly detract from the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'I am hoping you are doing fine' (a more natural choice would be 'I hope you are doing well'), 'All the expense need to recorded' (missing auxiliary verb and incorrect passive voice), and 'you should have a experience' (incorrect article usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with missing commas and incorrect capitalization in some areas. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
